Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
